On April 30th, 2015 Latvia will experience the International Jazz Day<\/a> for the second time, this time \u2014 under the\u00a0patronage of Latvian National Commission for UNESCO, say organizers of the event Wise Music Society. This year a big\u00a0jazz celebration will include 26 events in Riga, other Latvian cities and London and will take place with the support of\u00a0Culture Capital Foundation and other sponsors.<\/strong><\/div>\n

2015 is a year of jazz education worldwide, so Riga will open its celebrations on April 29 with a teaser event in Omas\u00a0Briljanta istaba: a lecture of Dr. Art. Indri\u0137is Veitners about jazz history in Latvia and a movie night together with a\u00a0student final recital concert, and the theme will continue on April 30 with a couple of jazz department student concerts\u00a0in various educational institutions.<\/div>\n

All in all, Riga will host 19 events on April 30: Spikeri Concert hall, R\u012bgaTV 24 studio, \u201cPulkvedim Neviens Neraksta\u201d\u00a0night club and many other places will sound as different colours of jazz genre played by local musicians, US embassy in\u00a0Latvia will support movie nights, dances and musical improvisations. This year the Jazz Day Latvia has broadened its\u00a0horizons: the festival will also take place in Liep\u0101ja, Ventspils, Valmiera and Daugavpils, as well as there will be a special\u00a0event held in the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in the UK.<\/div>\n

Has participated in a vast amount of competitions \u2013 1st place in \u201cNomme Jazz\u201d competition in 2013, finalist of \u201cRiga Jazz Stage\u201d in 2014, participant of \u201cLatvijas Talants \u2013 2\u2033 in 2008, Koru Kari \u2013 2 in 2009, Dziedo\u0161\u0101s \u0122imenes-2 in 2010, \u201eMana Zelta Dziesma\u201d in 2011, Eirov\u012bzija in 2012 and 2013 and festivals \u2013 Kaunas Jazz (Lithuania), Turku Jazz (Finland), Juu Jaab (Estonia), R\u012bgas Ritmi (Latvia) and others.<\/p>\n

Daumants Kalni\u0146\u0161<\/a><\/h3>\n

is a talented jazz singer with a certain stage charm. He has received the \u201cSp\u0113lma\u0146u nakts\u201d prize in the category \u201cDebut of the year \u2014 stage art\u201d for participation in \u201cNotre Dam de Paris\u201d show, the part of Kvasimodo. He also was nominated for best debut in Big Music Awards in 2012. Now Daumants studies jazz vocals in Latvian Academy of music and performs with his quintet, Professional orchestra \u201cR\u012bga\u201d and other ensembles in Latvia.<\/p>\n
