THE SUBJECT INTERRUPTED – A FIRST GLANCE
Talk by Pieternel Vermoortel
Departing from FormContent’s programme It’s moving from I to It, one of the characters that populated the scene will be isolated from the trajectory of the script and now more closely observed. By pealing off the paint of the setting, by deconstructing the decor, a first step towards an understanding of its drives motivates a gaze emphasizing the nature of the subject as pulsive unit. As such The subject interrupted – a first glance will look at the transition of the curatorial programme It’s moving from I to It into The Subject interrupted.

FormContent (www.formcontent.org) is a curatorial initiative, founded in 2007 with the intent of experimenting with exhibition formats and fostering collaborations that challenge the reciprocity of artistic and curatorial practices. Its current programme It’s moving from I to It has been developed as a nomadic curatorial project intended to explore modes of cultural production and dissemination through commissions and collaborations. It’s moving from I to It – The Play is a performance written and directed by Tim Etchells as the conclusive commission for It’s moving from I to It. Exploring fiction as a potential framework for curatorial programming, FormContent has embraced the structure of a theatrical script to inform its activity through a series of different initiatives and collaborations. Past performances: Tate Modern (London), Spike Island (Bristol), If I Can’t Dance, I don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution (Amsterdam), Eastside Projects (Birmingham), David Roberts Art Foundation (London), CIRCA projects at Workplace Gallery (Newcastle).
