WHITE NIGHT: Light Up Your Phobias

This event has ended!

In cooperation with film festival “Spektrs”, the White Night in Spikeri comes with a handpicked, thought-out and provocative feature film programme that challenges you to look fear right in the eye by experiencing unimaginable cinema phobias. Watch three stories on what we fear the most and why we fear it – questions will be asked, but finding answers is left to you…

UNDER THE SKIN 2Under the Skin, 2013, 108 min.

Director: Jonathan Glazer

Stars: Scarlett Johansson

A mysterious woman seduces and kills lonely men on the roads of Scotland. Who is she? An alien who’s desire to understand humans matches our desire to understand her mysterious nature.

Film is in English without subtitles.

Night of the Living Dead, 1968, 96 min.

Director: George A. Romero

In 1968, cinematography student George A. Romero borrowed 300 000 dollars to film a black-and-white movie on how people touched by Vietnam War, hippie movement and consumerism would behave after the judgement day. He used zombies for a catalyst, but he could never imagine that next 40 years his ideas would be quoted, copied and repeated over and over again with a culmination in the ongoing series The Walking Dead.

Film is in English without subtitles.

Castratus the Boar, 2014, 23 min.

Directors: Lauris Ābele, Raitis Ābele

Impressionist story about young Valters and his secret that prevents him from proper social functions in a provincial town. He spends his days singing in a local church choir and tending inherited pigs, yet it does not decrease his loneliness.
